Souness sacks his Dell No.2.

New Southampton boss Graeme Souness Graeme James Souness (IPA: ['suːnəs]) (born 6 May, 1953 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish former professional football player and manager.  yesterday booted out his assistant manager.

He sacked long-serving Lew Chatterley Lawson Colin Chatterley (born February 15, 1945) is an English former professional football player and coach. He represented England at Youth level. Playing career  on his first day in charge at The Dell - and brought in Phil Boersma Philip 'Phil' Boersma (born September 24, 1949 in Kirkby) is an ex-professional footballer, who played as a midfield/striker for Liverpool and Middlesbrough among others. Life and playing career  who worked with him at Ibrox, Liverpool and Galatasaray.

Southampton chairman Guy Askham said: "When Graeme arrived at the club last week he told us he wanted to bring in his own team of people.

"We have no problem with that and we are happy to allow him to use his judgement."

Souey's former Anfield team-mate Sammy Lee Sammy Lee is the name of:
  • Sammy Lee (scientist) (born 1958), expert in vitro fertilisation
  • Sammy Lee (diver) (born 1920), Korean-American diver
  • Sammy Lee (footballer) (born 1959), former Liverpool footballer and former Bolton Wanderers manager
 - who also played with Saints - is expected to be the next new appointment.

But chairman Askham insists their new boss has no plans to fire joint assistant manager John Mortimore or youth development officer Stewart Henderson.

Meanwhile, Wimbledon hitman Dean Holdsworth could be the new Dell chief's first signing.

Souness is said to be lining up a pounds 3million swoop.
