There are several basic approaches to reducing sound: increasing the distance between source and receiver, using noise barriers to block or absorb the energy of the sound program. The $1,170,000 contract will provide for complete acoustical design services to approximately 600 local residences. The residential soundproofing program includes 8,900 eligible residences in the Los Angeles communities of Westchester and Playa playa or pan or flat or dry lake Flat-bottomed depression that is periodically covered by water.
