Questions for UO

Take note on how two athletic programs handle the same problem.

Quarterback Steve Bellisari Steve Bellisari (born April 21, 1980 in Boca Raton, Florida) is an American football quarterback for the New Orleans Voodoo of the Arena Football League. Bellisari is best known as an Ohio State University Buckeye from 1998 to 2001.  of Ohio State was suspended indefinitely from the team on Nov. 16 by coach Jim Tressel James Tressel (born December 5, 1952) is the current head football coach at the Ohio State University. He was hired in 2001 to replace John Cooper. Since becoming Ohio State's 22nd head football coach, his team has won a National Championship, achieving the first 14-0 season  after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

The university needs to answer the question as to why it looks the other way when student-athletes break the rules and laws of society when the public pays their tuition to attend school.

While I am unfamiliar with the criteria used to determine who wins the Heisman Trophy Heisman Trophy

Annual award given to the outstanding college gridiron football player in the U.S. The trophy was instituted in 1935 by New York City's Downtown Athletic Club and was officially named the following year for the club's first athletic director, the player-coach
, this devoted Duck fan would like to offer her own recipe for the winner.

First, mix desire, commitment, tenacity, resilience and courage. Add class, composure and intellect. Then, sprinkle freely with generosity, skill, talent and love of the game. Top it all off with a large dose of heart. The result: Joey Harrington John Joseph "Joey" Harrington Jr (born October 21, 1978 in Portland, Oregon) is an American football quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. He was originally signed to be a backup to Michael Vick following the trade of Matt Schaub, however, he entered the season as starting .

For this lifelong Duck - who saw every single game in the "streak" plus 30-odd more years worth of games and bowls - no one, in my humble opinion, represents college athletics College athletics refers primarily to sports and games organized and sanctioned by institutions of tertiary education (colleges or universities in American English). In the United States, the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Association of Intercollegiate , scholarship, team spirit and dedication to a dream better than our own pride and joy, Joey Harrington.

This is one young man every Oregonian can truly embrace with pride. Joey is a class act that can only be respected and admired for the quality individual he is.

Too much Marist

Once again 3A state volleyball is in the wonderful city of Eugene. And once again all that you hear about is Marist. Marist wins this or Marist wins that.

It is not just in volleyball, but in all Marist sports, good or not. I do not think that it is fair to all the other teams that are in the same league as they are because they do not get any credit for anything that they do, especially if they play against Marist.

In the article in the Nov. 11 sports paper, the heading is something like this: "Marist claims third place trophy" instead of something along the lines of "Lakeview and Henley duke it out for the second year in a row."

Yes, I realize that neither of those teams are local teams, but they deserve to be more recognized for what they have accomplished. They are the first- and second-place teams in the state.

But if Marist were to lose, you really have to look hard to tell that there was even a game or anything. It is either Marist is in the headlines or nothing at all. Me, my team, parents and fans of all sports in the Sky-Em League are tired of hearing about Marist. How about evenly distributing the fame. Marist is not all that you make it out to be. I hope that you take this into consideration.
