The Masters of Illusion: The Art of American Trompe l'Oeil Painters exhibition at the Andreeva portrait gallery will feature the virtuosity of painting technique. Mr. Castelluccio, determined to pursue another passion, a career in acting, performed Off Broadway, in Shakespeare Festivals, television films and as a member of the ensemble cast of HBO's hit series "The Sopranos." His skills as a realist painter in the style of Trompe l'Oeil will be on view at Andreeva Portrait Commissions and Gallery. Braldt Bralds, a native of the Netherlands, was fascinated by great Dutch masters and the surrealists, whose work he studied closely in great museum collections during his youth. After studying graphic arts and the printing trade he began a successful career as an illustrator-designer. Drawn to New York City in 1978, Mr. Bralds landed a commission to paint a cover for Time magazine on his very first day and has painted countless covers for Time and other magazines.

Widely respected in the field, Braldt Bralds earned numerous gold and silver medals and received the coveted Clio award in 1989. Tatiana Andreeva, who represents the artist for Portrait Commissions, became intrigued by his exquisitely painted work, including portraiture, which is beautifully layered in symbolism.

Andreeva's special interest in presenting this exhibition is that Trompe l'Oeil encompasses an emblematic approach to the portrait, the source being original photographs and reproductions of fine art. In the works on view, artists pay homage to a lineage of inspirational great masters in this timeless genre of Trompe l'Oeil.
