Sophos joins Cisco program.
Sophos has joined the Network Admission Control (NAC See network access control. ) program. This
Cisco-led industry initiative uses network infrastructure to help
enforce security policy compliance on all devices which attempt to
access a company's network computing Storing and/or running applications in servers in a network. See cloud computing and network computer. resources, thereby limiting
damage from viruses and other threats. By joining NAC, Sophos commits to
integrate the Cisco Trust Agent (CTA An abbreviation for cum testamento annexo, Latin for "with the will annexed." ) into its anti-virus solution,
Sophos Anti-Virus Sophos Anti-Virus is an anti-virus, anti-spyware and HIPS software program by Sophos plc, which is aimed primarily at corporate environments. Centralised management is performed via Sophos Enterprise Console. It is believed to be the Anti-Virus used by Gmail[1]. . Integration of the Cisco Trust Agent with the Sophos
anti-virus solution will help to ensure that only systems compliant with
corporate security policies can connect to the network. The NAC program
supports the Cisco Self-Defending Network strategy which aims to
increase network intelligence in order to identify, prevent and adapt to
security threats automatically. When NAC identifies non-compliant
devices, it can deny access or allow restricted access to the network.
NAC allows organisations help verify that all endpoint devices, such as
PCs, PDAs and servers, are compliant with established security policies
before they are granted access to the enterprise network. Customers
interested in beta testing (programming) beta testing - Testing a pre-release (potentially unreliable) version of a piece of software by making it available to selected users. This term derives from early 1960s terminology for product cycle checkpoints, first used at IBM but later standard throughout the Sophos Anti-Virus solutions with the Cisco
Trust Agent should contact their local Sophos reseller. More information
