Sony Computer Entertainment America Signs Exclusive Deal with Eidos for Tomb Raider Franchise; Lara Croft Videogames to Be Exclusive to the PlayStation for Game Consoles.


FOSTER CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1997--Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that the Tomb Raider(TM) franchise, featuring leading character Lara Croft Lara Croft is the protagonist of Eidos' Tomb Raider series. Designed by Toby Gard, the heroine of the video game series has also been featured in movies, comic books, novels, and a series of animated shorts. In the two movies, she is portrayed by Angelina Jolie. , will be exclusive to the PlayStation(TM) for game consoles.

Released in November 1996, the original Tomb Raider game from Eidos Interactive Eidos Interactive is a publisher of video and computer games with its parent company based in England.
