Sonic to `Drive In' to Mexico; First Store Will be in Monterrey.

OKLAHOMA CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 2001

The ultimate American drive-in dining experience will go international for the first time in 2001 when Sonic Corporation (Nasdaq:SONC SONC Special Olympics Northern California ), the nation's largest chain of drive-in restaurants, cruises into northern Mexico later this year.

While the Monterrey Sonic Drive-In will be identical to its American locations in most ways, special care has been taken to tailor the concept to Mexican palates. The menu will be printed in Spanish and will feature some locally preferred soft drinks and a variety of salsas Salsas is a Portuguese parish in the district of Bragança. The population in 2001 is 424, its density is 16.5/km² and the area is 25.76 km². .

The initial drive-in will be one of the largest in the Sonic system, totaling approximately 1,600 square feet. The drive-in will feature more than 25 individual ordering stations, outdoor patio patio

In Spanish and Latin American architecture, a courtyard open to the sky within a building. A Spanish development of the Roman atrium, it is comparable to the Italian cortile but provides more seclusion, possibly due to Moorish custom. The patio of the contemporary U.S.
 seating and a drive-through.

Sonic, which specializes in made-to-order fast food, is known for its specialty menu items and quality customer service. Sonic started as a hamburger and root beer stand in 1953 in Shawnee, Okla., and has grown to more than 2,200 drive-ins in 27 states. Sonic is the nation's largest chain of drive-in restaurants and more than three-quarters of a million people eat at Sonic Drive-Ins every day.
