First Customer In Italy Signs US$2 Million Annual Contract

Sonic Telecom, Ltd., announced today that its international video conferencing network solution, Sonic Video1(R) is now serving customers throughout Italy.

Upon establishing the network, a leading technology firm awarded Sonic a contract for Sonic Video1(R) service valued at $2 million (US) dollars per year. Sonic Video1 works with every type of video conferencing equipment using either the ISDN or IP standard to deliver unsurpassed reliability, TV-like image clarity and ease-of-use at very competitive prices.

Sonic proved its reliability in Italy on February 7, 2003, when one of the world's largest information technology companies, as well as one of the world's largest business and technology services consultancy conducted a four and a half hour video conference without a single incident.

For that event, ten end-user locations connected to Sonic's international Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) backbone network at 384kbps (six channels each) for a total of 60 channels used simultaneously.

Video conferences to destinations not yet on the Sonic Network are routed by the VAD to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) thereby delivering the flexibility to call everyone, everywhere and still provide high performance and cost savings whenever possible.

This patent-pending approach to ensuring the reliability of video transmissions is unique to Sonic. Thanks to the VAD, Sonic can distinguish between data and data that represents a video conference.

Other carriers of data traffic cannot make that distinction and routinely "hand-over" international video conferences from one carrier to another thereby ensuring spotty reliability and higher cost for the customer.
