Songs for the Jet Set, Vol. 3.

Songs for the Jet Set, Vol. 3 * Various artists * Jet Set Records

Some movies these days just seem like veiled excuses for their real purpose: putting together a groovy sound-track. Well, why not just skip the time and expense of making the movie and go right to the music? That seems to be the strategy of Songs for the Jet Set, Vol. 3. This collection of imaginary cinematic sounds was created by a group of puckish U.K. artists who call their genre "cinema pop." The selections here are credited to bands you've never heard of, such as Tomorrow's World, Death By Chocolate, and Wall-paper. But the songs are wonderfully familiar--at least if you grew up in the '60s and watched The Avengers, James Bond flicks, and Georgy Girl; listened to The Kinks and Petula Clark; and dressed in Mary Quant
