WHO: Office Depot (NYSE:ODP), a leading global provider of office
products and services, will host the Company's 12th Annual
Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts across North America
throughout July and August. The events are designed to provide
a venue for area teachers to network and prepare for the new
        school year.

Store Managers at each of Office Depot's retail stores in
Hawaii will serve as host to the hundreds of teachers expected
to attend the events. Office Depot has more than 1,000 retail
store locations in North America; and three stores located in
        Hawaii.

Deputy Director Henry Oliva from Governor Linda Lingle's
office will attend the breakfast event in Honolulu. Also at
the event, 500 backpacks will be presented jointly by Office
Depot and Deputy Director Oliva to KCAA Preschool. The
Governor's office selected KCAA to receive the donation of
backpacks in collaboration with Office Depot.

Also at the event, Office Depot will present a combined
donation of 750 backpacks to principals at the following area
        schools:

Guests from Area Schools and Organizations Include:

-- Christina Cox, President, KCAA Pre-Schools of Hawaii

-- Caroline Miyashiro, Parent Facilitator, Salt Lake
            Elementary

-- Adrienne Dillard, Executive Director, Kula no na Po'e
            Hawaii

-- Natalie Mun-Takata, Principal, Kalihi Elementary School

-- Irving Emoto, Principal, Lincoln Elementary School

-- Dr. Susan Hirokane, Principal from Pearlcity Elementary
            School

WHAT: This is the 12th consecutive year Office Depot has hosted
Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts. Teachers will have the
opportunity to network, shop and plan for the upcoming school
year. Last year more than 100,000 teachers and administrators
        participated around the country.

Office Depot also understands that the Back-To-School season
can be particularly stressful for children, parents and
teachers. In recognition of the fact that many families have a
difficult time ensuring their children have what they need to
start the school year; Office Depot launched its National
        Backpack Program in 2001.

This national charitable program has one primary goal: To help
children succeed by providing them with the basic supplies
they need on their first day of school.

Office Depot will distribute 300,000 backpacks with school
supplies in 2005, a 100,000 increase from 2004. Since the
inception of the program (including this year's donation),
Office Depot will have placed more than 880,000 backpacks in
the hands of "at-risk" children across North America. In
Hawaii alone, the company has placed more than 4,000 backpacks
in the hands of children, since the program began.

WHERE: Office Depot's three retail stores in Hawaii:

-- 340 Kamakee St., Honolulu HI 96814 (Cross Streets: Queen
St & Kamakee) (The backpack event will take place at this
            store location)

-- 1505 Dillingham Blvd. Honolulu HI 96817 (Cross Streets:
            1505 Dillingham Blvd)

-- 98-1277 Kaahumanu Street, Aiea, HI 96701 (Cross
            Street98-1277 Kaahumanu St.)

WHEN: All breakfast events in Hawaii take place on Saturday, July
        30 beginning at 9:00 a.m.

WHY: The event is held each year to recognize and honor teachers
for their hard work, and most importantly to thank them for
        their commitment to children--America's future.

An industry leader during the Back to School shopping period,
Office Depot offers many programs to help get kids and teachers
prepared for the new school year. Now in its sixth year, the Company's
"5% Back To Schools" Program enables customers to select a local
school to receive a 5% credit toward "FREE SUPPLIES" for qualifying
back-to-school purchases. In 2004, nearly $2 million in merchandise
credits were awarded to schools around the country.

Since the program's inception in 2000, Office Depot has awarded
36,000 schools over $10 million in merchandise credits.

Kids In Need Teacher Grants Program/Office Depot Sponsorship:

provides K-12 educators with the opportunity to apply for funding to
help them realize their dreams of providing innovative learning
