Leigh Kendall's life is near to perfect: she's a successful Broadway actress married to a successful developer. But one dark snowy Sunday night Sunday Night, later named Michelob Presents Night Music, was an NBC late-night television show which aired for two seasons between 1988 and 1990 as a showcase for jazz and eclectic musical artists. , on a deserted road. Leigh Kendall has a serious car accident. She wakes in the hospital only to discover that her husband is missing, and she is under suspicion. The only help is offered by Michael Valenti, a man with a decidedly unsavory reputation. Like everyone else in Leigh's world, Valenti is not what or even who he seems. While others are far less than they appear, Valenti is far, far more and quickly becomes Leigh's center.

Maxwell's pleasant reading voice makes the story fly by. Valenti comes across strong and cool, while Leigh has to dig deep to access those same reserves of strength within herself. While the abridgment cuts some of the better scenes from the novel, it keeps the plotline clean so that it remains both emotional and action-packed. Maxwell keeps the tension high and the passion flowing. This is McNaught's best work in years. Recommended for all public libraries. Jodi L. Israel, MLS See multilevel security. , Jamaica Plain, MA
