Therefore, one might say that the type of construction required is reflected in the new style of the old guard. The massive law libraries, that were intrinsic to the culture of large firms, have been replaced by smaller, more efficient ones that feature traditional law texts, as well as data based archives and data centers for up-to-the minute information. In addition, there are "town hail" meeting areas, i.e., open, flexible space in which the partners may address the associates together at one time. Of course, it is our role to ensure that the installations for any A/V system may be modified for upgrades, which happens constantly.

What has not changed in the 460 years that we have been-in business are the integral roles of the partners when dealing with large issues, including cost and project management of office relocations and construction. On the whole, partnerships take a much more personal view of their firms operations and decisions tend to be made somewhat slower than with corporations. But it is, after all, the partners money and by the very nature of their livelihoods, they tend to be analytical and thoughtful about important decisions.

Law firms are evolving all the time, which is certainly reflected in their construction needs. Each new law firm project we take on has its own character, but through experience, we also recognize universal requirements. As construction consultants, we are vigilant about advising our clients on how to maintain flexibility in the design, so that upgrades may be implemented flawlessly, as needed as needed prn.
