Solio and Vodafone Expand Green Energy into Portugal.


LONDON -- Vodafone Group, one of the world's largest mobile telecommunications companies See telecom company. , has once again chosen Solio, manufactured by Better Energy Systems, as its primary green-energy source for cell phones. Vodafone Portugal Vodafone Portugal, a full subsidiary of the Vodafone Group, is the second mobile operator in Portugal, both chronologically and in market share (34% in 2006). Its competitors are Optimus and TMN.  is the latest of the group's companies to partner with Better Energy Systems to offer its customers the solar-powered convenience and portability of Solio.

Solio is a highly portable, weatherproof device that can be used to charge mobile phones, iPods and other hand-held electronic products by tapping into the energy of the sun. Its fan-blade design allows it to achieve maximum solar area when in use, and to fold compactly when stored. To use the device, one simply needs to attach a cable and press a button.

Recognizing the benefits that Solio brings to its global customer base, Vodafone Group opted to increase the availability of the device by featuring it in Vodafone stores on a territory-by-territory basis, adding Portugal to its growing list.
