(R) last-mile products have been serving the government network in Roadtown, the capital city, for over two years. Based on the success of this network, the Government has decided to extend the network over the entire commonwealth, spanning four major islands and separated over 10 miles of water.

The contract includes equipment provisioning, network design, equipment installation and configuration services for microwave backbone and last mile wireless broadband High-speed wireless transmission of data. What is "high" speed is always a changing number. Wireless systems are typically slower than land-based, wireline networks. In the past, wireless broadband started at 250 Kbps, whereas land-based broadband was generally considered to start at T1  products. Four major islands will be provided with broadband backbone without the need for leasing expensive underwater cables. As a result, the government will now own and operate its data communication system, constructed within a matter of months, without recurring charges for continued usage.

"We are pleased to continue our service to the BVI Government. This is a chance to prove our capability in providing a total solution that combines hardware, system integration, design services, field engineering, and long-term maintenance support for a complex large-scale network," says Dan Sparks, Director of International Sales for Solectek.

"We have been pleased with Solectek's Roadtown network and their support is outstanding. Whenever we had questions or issues, they addressed them in the most expeditious ex·pe·di·tious

manner. They have first rate products and support. That is the reason why we continue to do business with Solectek," says Annabelle Malone, Director of Information Systems Unit of The BVI Government. "We want to operate the network for many years to come, giving us the economic benefits and logistical independence from the telecom providers."

"Fixed wireless systems make a sensible choice for island governments where wired telecom infrastructure is difficult to build due to high cost, long deployment schedules, and geographical challenges. We have served a number of foreign governments and all of them are happy with the choices they have made -- to go with wireless and to go with Solectek," says Dr. Eric Lee, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
