Soldier networks.

I liked your recent article in the February issue (Soldiers on the Move Have Yet to Profit From Information Age, page 44).

I would like to clarify a few points that I think are important.

You point out the networking challenges below the battalion and company level. While this is true for light infantry infantry soldiers selected and trained for rapid evolutions.

being a line-of-sight radio is the fact that it's a networking radio offering simultaneous voice, video, data and situational awareness tracking. Additionally the article talks about the limited bandwidth of the radio. In fact, the radio is currently being employed for Land Warrior, using about a third of its capability.

The dismounted soldiers do not have to ration bandwidth to maintain voice and data. The soldiers don't control this--it's controlled by the network. Rationing bandwidth to maintain voice and data is not an issue. Additionally, dismounted soldiers do not have to rely on Stryker.
