Sojitz Accelerates WAN Performance with Juniper Networks.

Leading Japanese General Trading Company Delivers LAN-like Performance Throughout Global Enterprise Using WXC WXC Wavelength Cross-Connect  Application Acceleration Platforms

:JNPR JNPR Juniper Networks, Inc. (stock symbol) ) today announced that Sojitz Corp., a leading Japanese general trading company primarily focused on international trade, has deployed Juniper Networks WXC WAN application acceleration platforms to accelerate critical business applications over its global network serving more than 5,000 staff in 50 offices.

To maximize security and minimize total cost of ownership, Sojitz centralized its servers but was not comfortable with the resulting network latency See latency.  and bandwidth constraints. Sojitz has a distributed organization, with worldwide offices. Simply buying more bandwidth is neither cost effective nor scalable over the long term. Sojitz, with its network architecture consultant INFOCOM INFOCOM International Conference on Computer Communications (IEEE)
INFOCOM Informatics and Communications (CQU)
CORPORATION, identified the major challenge as inefficiency of network protocols not designed for Wide Area Networks (WANs). The Juniper WXC solution rectified this situation and productivity and efficiency have improved dramatically as a result.

Sojitz compared offerings from other vendors but only the Juniper solution stood up to their rigorous tests and stringent demands for performance, reliability and security. Sojitz selected the WXC platform based on the Juniper Networks reputation for leadership in the networking marketplace. After deploying the Juniper solution, the network was no longer an impediment to Sojitz's growth.

The WXC platforms accelerate a broad range of business applications by improving the performance of inherently inefficient protocols and increasing available WAN capacity. With the Juniper application acceleration platforms, remote and branch office users experience more LAN-like response times when accessing centralized applications and files over fixed-capacity wide-area links. The WXC platforms' protocol acceleration and compression and caching capabilities benefit a broad-cross section of application types, improving the performance of network services including Windows CIFS (Common Internet File System) The file sharing protocol used in Windows. It evolved out of the SMB (Server Message Block) protocol in DOS, which is why the terms CIFS/SMB and SMB/CIFS are sometimes seen. The word "Internet" in the CIFS name has little relevance.  file sharing Copying files from one computer to another.  file transfers, electronic mail and Web access while achieving up to a 10-fold increase in WAN capacity.

"Japanese businesses are both increasingly global and increasingly dependent on their networks, fueling demand for application acceleration solutions," said Masanori Osuga, vice president of Japan for Juniper Networks. "By optimizing their infrastructure with the WXC platform, companies such as Sojitz take advantage of higher performance connectivity and cost reductions through centralization of network resources and IT support."
