RESTON, Va. -- Software AG today announced that Dean Mericka has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. . Prior to joining Software AG, Mericka was Vice President of Sales at Digital Harbor, a provider of composite application solutions to the US federal government and financial services institutions. Mericka also held prominent positions at IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , where he began his career helping state government agencies and higher education institutions benefit from distributed and scientific computing. He was also responsible for IBM's software sales strategy in IBM's Southwest Area. After IBM, Mericka joined BMC Software, a provider of high availability and high performance solutions for mainframe and distributed computing environments, where he was initially focused on BMC's largest automotive and airline customers.
