Softrock Petroleums Announces Airborne Magnetic Mapping Results.

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 25, 1996--SOFTROCK PETROLEUMS (Alberta Stock Exchange: STZ) J.B. Keith McLean, President of Softrock Petroleums Ltd. (Softrock) announced today that the corporation has obtained the results of the recently completed airborne magnetic mapping (AEROMAG 95) recently flown by the Geological Survey of Greenland and Denmark (GEUS) over south Greenland. Softrock's two licenses, strategically located in south Greenland, cover a combined area of approximately 350,000 acres and were covered by the survey.

Newly mapped anomalies on parts of Softrock's Lindenow License in southeast Greenland cover arsenic, gold and tungsten stream sediment geochemical anomalies as well as gossans and sulphide mineralization earlier located and described by GEUS geologists. In southwest Greenland, parts of the Qaqortoq license are indicated to be anomalous in those areas where possible diamond-bearing, ultramafic lamprophyre intrusions are known to exist. Mafic to ultramafic rock may also host copper-nickel mineralization.

Softrock's EM/Magnetic, five frequency, helicopter-survey, now expected to commence in early August, will help define prospects earlier identified by GEUS ground geology and, more recently, enhanced by AEROMAG 95. Softrock's contractor, Aerodat, is currently competing a nearby GEUS airborne survey. Greenland exploration continues to gain momentum with the granting, since May 1996, of approximately 8-million acres of new licenses in west/southwest Greenland.
