Softer super-TPV arrives.Zeotherm, a new high-performance thermoplastic A polymer material that turns to liquid when heated and becomes solid when cooled. There are more than 40 types of thermoplastics, including acrylic, polypropylene, polycarbonate and polyethylene. vulcanizate, or "super-TPV," is now available in a lower-durometer version. Zeotherm 1000-70B from Zeon Chemicals L.P., Louisville, Ky., has 75 Shore A hardness, while earlier grades are 80A and 90A (see last month's feature article on super-TPVs). All three grades are based on a crosslinked polyacrylate rubber dispersed dis·perse v. dis·persed, dis·pers·ing, dis·pers·es v.tr. 1. a. For example, they reportedly survive 3000-hr exposure to 150 C with spikes spikes see peplomer. to 175 C. They also boast superior overmold adhesion adhesion /ad·he·sion/ (ad-he´zhun) 1. the property of remaining in close proximity. 2. the stable joining of parts to one another, which may occur abnormally. 3. to nylons and polyesters. The new, softer grade is suited to seals, grips, electrical connectors, and overmolded portions of ducts, Tel: (502) 775-2078 PT Direct: 563GK |
