, Va. -- Softek(R) Storage Solutions, the leader in Nonstop HP's brand name for its fault-tolerant servers, which range in size from four CPUs to 4,000 CPUs. The NonStop line was created by Tandem Computers, which was acquired by Compaq, which later became part of HP.  Data Mobility(TM) software solutions, today announced that the company will showcase its comprehensive suite of Nonstop Data Mobility(TM) solutions as a participant and key sponsor of the SHARE User Events trade show, to be held at the Baltimore Convention Center The Baltimore Convention Center is a convention and exhibition hall located in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. It is managed and operated by the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association, a semi-private association started in 1980 by former Baltimore mayor William Donald , August 13 - 18. The SHARE User Events show is the industry's premier trade show targeted at the mainframe community.

A key highlight of the SHARE User Events show will include a technical session delivered by a Softek Nonstop Data Mobility(TM) customer presenting their experience and perspective about data mobility for z/OS through Softek Transparent Data Migration Facility (TDMF TDMF Transparent Data Migration Facility
TDMF Time Division Matrix Function
(TM)) and Logical Data Migration Facility (LDMF LDMF Logical Data Migration Facility (TM)), the industry's first and only dataset-level data migration software. Leslie Dewey and Fred Krefting, mainframe storage professionals from Principal Financial Group, a Des Monies, Iowa-based leader in financial products and services, will discuss their current use and future plans for LDMF to move datasets non-disruptively for enhancing the performance and utilization of their multi-vendor storage environment. The session will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 14 in Room 302 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

Softek will also celebrate Nonstop Data Mobility(TM) for z/OS environments by marking the 10th anniversary of creating TDMF, the industry's gold standard software for non-disruptive volume-level data migrations and the first anniversary of the introduction of LDMF, for non-disruptive data set-level migration. Together, these products deliver "the next generation" of enterprise data migration across any vendor and distance and ensure complete application availability mandates in conjunction with business continuity and compliance requirements Compliance requirements are a series of directives established by United States Federal government agencies that summarize hundreds of Federal laws and regulations applicable to Federal assistance (also known as Federal aid or Federal funds). .

"We are excited that customers are utilizing both LDMF and TDMF to ensure their data is mobile throughout corporate enterprise environments and both volume and data set levels," said Amena Ali, senior vice president of worldwide marketing and product strategy, at Softek. "In fact, we are seeing Nonstop Data Mobility being made into an operational practice to gain the benefits of non-disruptive data movement across multiple vendors."

Recently, due to the compounded growth in storage, online data movement drivers such as tiering storage for ILM and compliance requirements for data placement and legal/audit requirements have emerged as operational mandates, in addition to traditional drivers such as data migration to implement larger new storage arrays. Data mobility is a key element in each of these areas. Having the flexibility to move critical data online across differing vendor platforms, any distance or any operating system operating system (OS)

Software that controls the operation of a computer, directs the input and output of data, keeps track of files, and controls the processing of computer programs.
, provides the foundation to instituting simple and unified data mobility as a strategic business practice.
