Softek Introduces New Version of its Data Mobility Products for Microsoft Windows(R) Featuring Faster Data Transfer Speeds.

Softek TDMF Windows (IP) and Softek Replicator for Windows perform 50% faster through intelligent network utilization and elimination of the use of the TCP/IP stack for local migrations

VIENNA, Va. -- Softek[R] Storage Solutions, the leader in Nonstop Data Mobility[TM] software solutions, today announced significant enhancements to its host-based data migration and data replication software for Windows that significantly increases network transfer speed, enabling a 50 percent boost in speed over previous releases. In addition, a new Data Migration Performance Assist feature greatly simplifies local data migrations while continuing to keep applications 100% available during a data migration or a data replication.

Softek's Transparent Data Migration Facility (TDMF) Windows (IP) software is a comprehensive, host-based data migration product that moves data over TCP/IP. The solution stands out because it works with any volume manager, any file system and all applications. Installed as a service and a TCP/IP driver on the server, TDMF Windows (IP) automates data migration while applications remain available and online. Replicator for Windows is cost-effective, host-based data protection software for Windows 2000/2003 platforms that works between or within any vendor's hardware. Used primarily to alleviate backup window constraints, disaster recovery and compliance, Replicator for Windows has compression and bandwidth throttling features to minimize the impact of network bandwidth or application latency.

Key enhancements to Softek TDMF Windows (IP) Version 2.5 and Replicator for Windows Version 2.5 include faster data throughput via new algorithms that more intelligently utilize network bandwidth, even in highly latent environments, for distance migrations and data protection. New techniques have been utilized within the products to improve performance using better buffering options which results in faster transfer speeds.

TDMF Windows (IP) for Windows includes a new Data Migration Performance Assist feature, which enables faster and simpler local data migrations. This feature reduces resource consumption by eliminating the use of the TCP/IP stack for local data migrations.

In addition to the Windows 2000/2003 support today, TDMF Windows (IP) and Replicator Windows now supports Microsoft Clusters from the Central Console and VMware guests on Windows hosts, and will support Windows Vista in 2007.

* Re-startable Full Refresh - Enables existing migrations to re-start from the point of broken network connection, providing storage administrators with considerable time savings.

* Locking and Error Recovery - Target disks are locked to maintain consistency in the case of restarts.

* Windows Shares Replication - Automatically copies the Windows Disk Shares to the remote server.

* Target Volume Expansion - Automatically expands target volumes after data movement.

* Central Console - A single-screen central point of control and management, with the ability to group servers according to the phase/stage they are in within the actual data migration process. This also provides a useful "at-a-glance" status of all servers within the infrastructure to track the state and preparedness of each server.

* C-drive replication - The boot drive is eligible to be replicated or migrated so that storage managers can copy remotely application and operating system data that resides on the system disk drive.

Both products will be available in January 2007 from Softek's direct sales force and global partner network.
