Softdisk Publishing Announces Support for SimulEyes VR 3D Stereo Vision Glasses by StereoGraphics; First Title, "In Pursuit of Greed," is High-Speed Action in Stereoscopic 3-D.

SAN RAFAEL San Rafael (săn rəfĕl`), residential city (1990 pop. 48,404), seat of Marin co., W Calif., a suburb of San Francisco on the northern shore of San Francisco Bay; inc. 1913. , Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1996--Softdisk Publishing, developer of the popular 3D action game, In Pursuit of Greed, today revealed plans to support StereoGraphics' SimulEyes VR stereo vision eyewear in "Greed" and future titles.

SimulEyes VR enables players to proceed through 22 game levels of fast 3D action with true depth perception.

"Softdisk Publishing fully supports StereoGraphics' SimulEyes VR in our 3D action game entitled In Pursuit of Greed," said Softdisk Vice President David Bowman This article is about the Space Odyssey character. For the Scottish football (soccer) player, see David Bowman (footballer).

"Our staff's enthusiasm for SimulEyes VR told us it was the right product to support. StereoGraphics' developer assistance has been excellent and we will definitely publish SimulEyes VR-ready titles in the future, including `Birthrite' coming this fall."

SimulEyes VR employs StereoGraphics' liquid crystal shutter technology, the industry standard for 3D stereo vision in workstation environments.

The shutters in the eyewear rapidly alternate in sync with left- and right-eye views on the computer monitor. The shutters ensure that the left eye sees only the left image while the right eye sees only the right. This effectively emulates normal eyesight to restore depth perception.

"Softdisk's support of SimulEyes VR marks yet another software publisher committed to our industry leading technology," said Craig Rappaport, Product Marketing Manager at StereoGraphics. "With the addition of In Pursuit of Greed, we are building a varied and comprehensive list of titles for the expanding stereoscopic stereoscopic /ster·eo·scop·ic/ (ster?e-o-skop´ik) having the effect of a stereoscope; giving objects a solid or three-dimensional appearance.
