SofTECH to Present a Mobile Computing Forum on November 16.

NOVATO, Calif. -- New mobile computing innovations are exploding onto the global market almost daily. Today's mobile devices are an alphabet soup of choices for consumers -- PDAs, IAs, PDT, Pocket PCs, Table PCs and more. Dedicated mobile communications devices are rapidly becoming relics destined for the Smithsonian as they are replaced by extensible computing platforms that can play music and video, blog and easily add new PDA-types of applications. A new vocabulary is required to fully fathom all the devices, mobile networks and protocols.

Enthusiasts and professionals alike are invited to join SofTECH's General Meeting on November 16 in Marin County. Presenter Ed Geldens will address the current state of the mobile computing revolution. Geldens will explain how these technology breakthroughs are being driven by hardware that is more capable, ubiquitous wireless networks, and the release of new and useful mobile software applications.

You will learn about:

--Today's devices -- personal digital assistants, information appliances, portable data terminals, Table PCs, Notebooks and SmartPhones;

--The infrastructure -- GSM, CDMA, WiFi, MIMO, POTS, and upcoming mobile networks such as WiMax;

--The mobile adoption of horizontal software applications -- email, word processors, spreadsheets and databases;

--Specialty application and vertical mobile applications development, including the pros and cons of totally connected and synchronized wireless mobile-handheld-application development.
