Presenter Ed Geldens will address the current state of the mobile computing revolution. Geldens will explain how these technology breakthroughs are being driven by hardware that is more capable, ubiquitous wireless networks, and the release of new and useful mobile software applications.

You will learn about:

--Today's devices -- personal digital assistants, information appliances, portable data terminals, Table PCs, Notebooks and SmartPhones;

--The infrastructure -- GSM, CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band. , WiFi, MIMO (Multiple Input/Multiple Output) Pronounced "my-mo," it is the use of multiple transmitters and receivers (multiple antennas) on wireless devices for improved performance. , POTS, and upcoming mobile networks such as WiMax;

--The mobile adoption of horizontal software applications -- email, word processors, spreadsheets and databases;
