Sodomy takes the stand. (Court).


Just 11 days after the Arkansas supreme court The Arkansas Supreme Court is the highest court in the U.S. state of Arkansas. It consists of a Chief Justice and six Associate Justices. The Justices are elected in a non-partisan election for a term of eight years.  overturned that state's same-sex sodomy law A sodomy law is a law that defines certain sexual acts as sex crimes. The precise sexual acts meant by the term sodomy are rarely spelled out in the law, but is typically understood by courts to include any sexual act which does not lead to procreation. , Lambda Legal Lambda Legal (Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund) is a United States civil rights organization that focuses on gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work.  Defense and Education Fund on July 16 asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review the "homosexual conduct" law in Texas.  of the same sex. The case, Lawrence and Garner v. Texas, involves two men who were arrested in 1998 while having sex in the home of one of the men.

"This law harms all people who believe that their homes should be protected from governmental intrusion," said Lambda's Lee Taft. "In particular, it brands lesbian and gay Texans as second-class citizens."
