Because Sockeye sells GlobalRoute as a subscription service, Onvoy's multi-year agreement required no initial capital investment. Onvoy expects the service to provide a 297 percent return on investment over the first two years of the agreement. The Sockeye Networks GlobalRoute service has improved performance across all of Onvoy's network destinations by 130 percent on average, and by more than 300 percent for over half of the destinations.

"Sockeye's GlobalRoute route optimization service helps differentiate us as an integrated broadband provider, providing superior IP services on one of Minnesota's most advanced and highest-performing optical networks," said Fritz Hendricks, Onvoy's Chief Operations Officer. "It dynamically manages the performance and efficiency of our routes and provides our regional Internet and Hosting customers with the best possible connection to regional, national, and international destinations."

Onvoy chose GlobalRoute for its ability, demonstrated in extensive on-site trials, to reduce network issues and ensure optimal Internet connectivity for its high-speed, high-capacity data and voice over IP customers. In addition, the Sockeye Networks GlobalRoute service has reduced the time Onvoy's engineers spend compensating for the limitations of standard routing protocols A formula used by routers to determine the appropriate path onto which data should be forwarded. The routing protocol also specifies how routers report changes and share information with the other routers in the network that they can reach.  from eight days to two by eliminating a potential of 50 network issues and approximately 150 technical support calls a month.

The GlobalRoute service also helps Onvoy more efficiently manage its own upstream bandwidth providers. GlobalRoute provides Onvoy with extensive visibility into how well its Tier-1 providers are performing and how often the network switches between them. GlobalRoute will ensure that Onvoy wrings as much value as possible from the bandwidth it's paying for before going over commitment levels and incurring overage Overage

Sockeye sells GlobalRoute as a service consisting of a customer-controlled network appliance (1) A specialized device for use on a network. "We are very pleased that Onvoy has selected Sockeye Networks to provide route optimization for its multi-homed network," said Valeri Marks, chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
