Soar Technology Selects Wizzard Software for Speech Technologies; Voice Synthesis and Voice Recognition Capabilities for U.S. Special Operations Forces and the U.S. Army.

Soar Technology, Inc., a leading developer of intelligent systems and intelligent software agents that generate human-like behavior, has signed an agreement with Wizzard Software to provide technologies licensed by Wizzard from IBM and AT&T that enable speech recognition and synthesis, for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) at Redstone Arsenal and U.S. Special Operations Forces PEO-STRI. The agreement provides for AT&T's Natural Voices text-to-speech software and IBM speech recognition software, both of which are licensed and supported by Wizzard Software Corporation (OTCBB:WIZD).

SoarTech's project for AMRDEC will allow a pilot in a simulator or a Battle Master running an experiment to interact with SoarTech's intelligent agents through voice. A combination of speech recognition and intelligent behaviors will allow the agents to "hear" and understand the human voice and respond appropriately. Similarly, a combination of text-to-speech software and intelligent behaviors will allow the agents to communicate with humans through the very natural sounding voice synthesis. The finished module, which will be integrated with MAK Technology's VR-Forces, will be called Helo-Soar and will provide the Army with intelligent synthetic rotary wing capabilities that can be used in conceptual and performance trade studies, as well as training and other analysis applications where man-in-the-loop simulations are used in conjunction with synthetic forces. This Phase II contract is sponsored through the U.S. Government's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.

In a second project for the U.S. Special Operations Forces PEO-STRI, a human Forward Air Controller trainee will be able to task and communicate with Soar Technology's TacAir-Soar intelligent agents through the same combination of software, i.e., intelligent behaviors, text-to-speech software and speech recognition software. TacAir-Soar is the largest production system in use today and provides pilot emulation capabilities for fixed wing aircraft such as the F-16, A-10, and B-52.
