SMURFIT KAPPA GROUP The Smurfit Kappa Group is Europe's leading corrugated packaging company, following the merger of Jefferson Smurfit Group and Kappa Packaging. This merger was finalized by the end of 2005. , Dublin, Ireland confirmed that it has begun a process of engagement with its works councils Noun 1. works council - (chiefly Brit) a council representing employer and employees of a plant or business to discuss working conditions etc; also: a committee representing the workers elected to negotiate with management about grievances and wages etc  and trade unions to address the rationalization rationalization, in psychology: see defense mechanism.  or closure of a number of plants in its European operations.
