Alecia Anne Smothers and Michael David McMath were united in marriage on June 23, 2007, at six o'clock in the evening at First Baptist Church in Tupelo.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Doyle Smothers of Tupelo. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Rice Smothers of Tupelo; Mrs. Wanda Jean Yagel of Silver Spring, Maryland; and the late Commander Ward Keith Martin of Norfolk, Virginia. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Craig McMath of Jerusalem, Arkansas, and Mrs. Kristy LeAnn McMath of Coarsegold, California. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John David Conway of Mariposa, California, and Mr. and Mrs. James Edward McMath of Russellville, Arkansas.

The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Rev. Cary Vaughn. A worship service of nuptial music was provided by Frances Blackwell, pianist; Sandy Coutoumanos, organist; Mary Faulds, flautist; and RandyWood, guitarist. Vocalists included Kenneth Griswold, Shelley Jones, Blaire Lindsay, Laney Marchbanks, Anna Shannon, and Randy Wood.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of Italian ivory satin featuring a strapless fitted bodice. Metallic embroidery detailed with seed pearls, crystals, and bugle beads embellished the fitted bodice as well as the full A-line skirt. A chapel-length train complemented the back of the gown also adorned with embellishments. The headpiece was a crystal and rhinestone tiara with layers of illusion falling to the back waist. Her bouquet consisted of a vibrant color combination of flowers arranged with an open nosegay-style with gold calla lilies surrounded by confetti roses, orange Unique roses, Snowflake and Anna Belle hydrangeas. The back of the bouquet was collared with hosta leaves for a finished look.

The matron of honor was Kara Leigh Penny and the maid of honor was Mary Elizabeth Smothers, both sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Stacie McMurry Hutchison, Laney Elizabeth Marchbanks, and Leslie Nicole Pickett. Each bridesmaid wore a sleeveless, two-piece ensemble of Persimmon satin with a beaded bodice and flowing trumpet skirt and carried bouquets of warm-toned flowers that consisted of confetti roses, orange Unique roses, gold toned callas lilies, with gold alstroemeria. Long cascades of variegated ivy added flowing lines from the open nosegay-style. Ribbon tones of brick red, grapefruit orange, and gold added additional flow and coordinated beautifully with the warm rich tone of reddish orange of their dresses.

Serving as honorary bridesmaids were Breanne Lyn Anderson, Heather Leigh Ann Gaal, Julie Spalding Greene, Ashley Ann McMath, Laura Koon Richardson, Michelle Elaine Pierce, and Angie Manasco Whiddon. Anessa Jewel McMath served as flower girl.

Paul Anthony Staffiero served as best man. Groomsmen were Stephen Bleau Anderson, Adrian Bradley Hill, Christopher Scott Lax, and Jason Douglas Owens. Ushers were Jonathan Douglas Steven Penny, and John Adam Stewart.

Following the ceremony the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Tupelo Country Club, with music provided by Wishbone of Tupelo. The couple departed the reception under a shower of rose petals and into a white limousine.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Tupelo Country Club. Earlier that day the bride was honored with a bridesmaids' luncheon at the home of Mrs. Mimi Nail.

After a honeymoon trip to Nassau, Bahamas, the couple is at home in Cordova, Tennessee, where the groom is employed as a bank service technician for United Technologies Corporation and the bride is employed as a T-Mobile account development representative.
