Smiths Aerospace today announces a Manufacturing License Agreement with Kanto Aircraft Instrument to supply the Advanced Electrical Power Management System (AEPMS) for more than 60 AH-64D AH-64D Apache Attack Helicopter, D version, with Longbow radar improvements  Apache helicopters for the Japanese Ground Self Defence Force. The contract is valued at more than $30M for Smiths with deliveries starting from 2003.

The Smiths Aerospace facility in Cheltenham will work closely with Kanto to supply the AEPMS technology and the systems will be assembled and tested at the Kanto facility in Fujisawa Japan. Smiths electrical power management system is standard on the Boeing 777 and the AH-64D Longbow longbow
