Smiths Aerospace Awarded Contract for Embraer Phenom 300.ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Smiths Aerospace has been awarded a contract to supply the bleed air Bleed air in gas turbine engines is compressed air taken from within the engine, after the compressor stage(s) and before the fuel is injected in the burners. While in theory bleed air could be drawn in any gas turbine engine, its usage is generally restricted to jet engines used and anti-ice subsystems on the Embraer Phenom 300 for more than 400 aircraft. First delivery of flight hardware is expected in August 2007. The subsystems will be manufactured at Smiths' facility in Rockford, Illinois Rockford is a mid-sized city located on both banks of the Rock River in far northern Illinois. Rockford is often referred to as "The Forest City" and is the county seat of Winnebago County, Illinois, USA. As reported in the 2000 U.S. . Smiths Aerospace scope of equipment consists of the bleed air system controller, the pressure regulating and shutoff valves (PRSOVs), fan air valves, cross bleed valve, wing and horizontal stabilizer anti-ice valves, and the engine reverse flow check valves. The controller manages the bleed air valves, anti-ice valves and bleed air leak detection sub-systems. In addition to the above units, Smiths will perform system level performance testing in their test facility on the entire bleed air and anti-ice systems to include Embraer supplied engine anti-ice valves, pre-cooler heat exchanger, system ducting duct·ing n. 1. Its tone is bright and shrill, and it can produce the highest notes in the orchestral range. The piccolo is used in orchestras and especially in military bands. See fife. tubes. About the Phenom 300: The Phenom 300 will enter service in mid-2009 with production for more than 400 aircraft between now and 2019. It will be powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada's PW535E engine, with 3,200 pounds of thrust. Comfortably accommodating up to nine people, the Phenom 300 range will be 1,800 nautical miles (NBAA NBAA National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
