Smith-Rushing. (2003 Wedding Register).


Carla Christine Smith and Thomas Alfred Rushing celebrated their marriage on the evening of August 17, 2002, at Temple Baptist Church of Hattiesburg.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Bobby Darrel Smith of Hattiesburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby J. Smith of Ellisville and Mrs. Doris Renfro and the late Mr. F.L. Renfro of Hattiesburg. The groom is the son of Mrs. Elizabeth Smith Rushing and the late Mr. Lewis Edwin Rushing of Raymond. He is the grandson of Mrs. Sarah Smith and the late Mr. A.R. Smith of Raymond and the late Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Rushing, formerly of Jackson.

Dr. Dean Register performed the double-ring ceremony. David Blackwell, pianist; Beverly Barton, organist; and a string quartet presented a program of nuptial music. Vocalists were Lisa Lowery and Rob Gaston. Mrs. Judy Hicks directed the wedding ceremony.

Serving as matron and maid of honor were the bride's sisters, Tonya Kay Smith Atkinson and Darrah Michelle Smith. Bridesmaids were Erin Banks, Susan Caine, Missy Hurt, Bridgett Landry, Jennifer Perodeau, Ashley Pettitt, Leigh Pouncey, and Bethany Williams. The flower girls were Josie Kay Atkinson and Taylor Jordan.

Ed Rushing, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Geoghegan Clarke, Chad Coutch, Travis Dyar, Stephan Herbison, Gabe McGuffee, Marcus Rigby, Ken Smith, Chad Thompson, and Kevin Williams. The ring bearer was Chase Atkinson.

Ushers were Joe Atkinson, Brian Monistere, Clint Perodeau, John Tharp, and Robert Thomas.

Program attendants were Alicia Conner and Lee Ann Hemphill. Sissy Lynn attended the registry. The bride's proxy was Paula Werne.

Following the ceremony, a reception hosted by the bride's parents was held at Southern Oaks House and Gardens. On the eve On the Eve (Накануне in Russian) is the third novel by famous Russian writer Ivan Turgenev, best known for his short stories and the novel Fathers and Sons.  of the wedding, the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at the home of the bride's parents in Hattiesburg.

Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple resides in Brandon, where the bride is a fourth-year dental student at the University of Mississippi The University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss, is a public, coeducational research university located in Oxford, Mississippi.
