Smith-Midland Corporation Announces Successful J-J Hooks Jersey Barrier Crash Test.


MIDLAND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1999--Smith-Midland Corporation (Nasdaq: SMID, SMIDW)(Boston Stock Exchange The Boston Stock Exchange (BSE) is a regional stock exchange located in Boston, Massachusetts. On October 2nd, 2007 Nasdaq agreed to acquire BSE for $61 million. : SMM, SMM/W) today announced that EASI-SET Industries, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Smith-Midland Corporation, has successfully completed the new National Cooperative Highway Research Program 350 (NCHRP NCHRP National Cooperative Highway Research Program  350) crash testing for the J-J Hooks(TM) transportable precast concrete barrier and positive connection system.

The Crash test was performed at the highly regarded Texas Transportation Institute The Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) is the largest transportation research agency in the United States. Created in 1950, primarily in response to the needs of the Texas Highway Department (now the Texas Department of Transportation), TTI has since broadened its focus to  facilities in College Station, Texas College Station is a city in Brazos County, Texas, situated in Central Texas. It is located in the heart of the Brazos Valley. The city is located within the most populated region of Texas, near to three of the 10 largest cities in the United States - Houston, Dallas, and San .

The Federal Highway Administration The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is a division of the United States Department of Transportation that specializes in highway transportation. The agency's major activities are grouped into two "programs," The Federal-aid Highway Program and the Federal Lands Highway  recently announced that all temporary concrete safety barriers must meet the new NCHRP 350 crash test requirements by Oct. 1, 2002.

Successful completion of the NCHRP 350 Jersey barrier crash test represents an outstanding opportunity for EASI-SET Industries, which licenses Smith-Midland developed products throughout North America and in Europe and South America. EASI-SET Industries currently has 30 precast concrete product licensees worldwide.
