 as its new president.

In a bold move that the company says will boost significantly our industry expertise, Saf-T-Hammer Corp. chief executive officer Mitch Saltz tapped Robert L. Scott, a Smith & Wesson vice president, to head the Arizona-based company.

"We are enthusiastic about having Bob Scott

lead Saf-T-Hammer and its safety products into the new millennium," said Saltz. "Bob brings an understanding of the market that will allow Saf-T-Hammer products to reach their full potential to prevent tragedies caused by the unauthorized or unintentional use of firearms."

Scott spent a decade directing the marketing efforts of Smith & Wesson, having joined the leading gun-making company in 1989 as vice president of sales and marketing. He is currently Smith & Wesson's vice president for business development. Scott brings a wealth of knowledge about the firearms and sporting industries as well as extensive marketing experience to Saf-T-Hammer, having spent some 20 years in the business of marketing consumer products.

Saf-T-Hammer Corp. is gearing up for production of its two unique gun safety products, the Saf-T-Trigger(TM) and Saf-T-Hammer(TM). The tiny device, which is permanently installed in the trigger housing, will work on all firearms, including hammer-less firearms and shotguns.

The Saf-T-Hammer(TM) is an easily removable handgun hammer that fully disables the gun when removed. It can be removed or reinstalled in seconds, and has been well received at trade shows and with law enforcement because it is integrated right into -- and works seamlessly with -- the firearm firearm, device consisting essentially of a straight tube to propel shot, shell, or bullets by the explosion of gunpowder. Although the Chinese discovered gunpowder as early as the 9th cent., they did not develop firearms until the mid-14th cent. . Both products are patent-pending, and are expected to be on store shelves in the first quarter of 2000.

"I am excited about the challenges ahead," said Scott. "As one long involved in the firearms and outdoor industries and marketing, I'm convinced that Saf-T-Hammer's products will prove more attractive to gun owners than other devices on the market. These exciting innovations provide simple and user-friendly alternatives to the firearm safety products now available.

"I look forward to assuming the responsibility for bringing Saf-T-Trigger(TM) and Saf-T-Hammer(TM) to the public, as well as to expanding our product offerings and scope of business to include broader segments of the consumer marketplace." Scott officially takes the helm of Saf-T-Hammer on Dec. 6.

"Bob is coming on board at the perfect time," said chief executive officer Saltz. "As we move into production and order-taking, his expertise and industry knowledge will move Saf-T-Hammer full steam ahead into the marketplace."
