Smith & Nephew names representative.

Smith & Nephew's plastics division recently made a major move to streamline the company's sales activities in North America by appointing Harodite Finishing as the exclusive distributor of Smith & Nephew's range of nets. Having worked together in previous years, the two companies already have a good relationship. The industrial division of Harodite, Staflex-Harotex, will hold a high inventory of Smith & Nephew product in Massachusetts and South Carolina.

The nets, using melt emboss technology, are designed for medical applications, although filtration, personal hygiene and adhesive laminates are possible future markets. Bicomponent fiber nettings with differing melt temperature polymers on either side of the web are also being developed. Products are available in roll stock or laminated to absorbent materials.
