LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 2002
Smartlogik plc, (LSE: SLK; NASDAQ: SLGK) the knowledge products company, announces that it will provide search and structure solutions to ISI, the leading provider of high-value, essential information for the global scientific research community.
ISI, a business of The Thomson Corporation, produces ISI Web of Knowledge(SM) --the single environment from which scientific researchers can access, analyze, and manage information. ISI Web of Knowledge facilitates discovery by offering seamless navigation to the highest quality journal and Web content, evaluation tools, and bibliographic management products.
Under the contract, Smartlogik will customise and deliver its MuscatStructure(TM) and MuscatDiscovery(TM) tools, in order to allow ISI subscribers to search across an unprecedented breadth of scientific research information. Smartlogik will create a uniform structure for both the proprietary and publicly available information, including the Derwent Innovations Index(SM), published by Derwent Information(TM), a Thomson business and a world leading patent and scientific information provider.
"Because of its unsurpassed depth, quality and ease of use, it is our aim that ISI Web of Knowledge will become the acknowledged first choice resource for the global scientific research community", said Frank Licata, Senior Vice President of Systems and Technology, ISI.
"The advanced search and categorisation capabilities of the Smartlogik technology is easily tailored to the ISI information resources," continued Licata. "As the content and functionality of ISI Web of Knowledge broadens, the Smartlogik technology can be scaled to meet the needs of our customers."
