The new facility will be located in Cebu, the Philippines, and will be within the Mactan Export Processing Zone, an area which encourages business investment through various government incentive programs. The Cebu facility will provide an additional 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space for high-volume precision assembly. Smartflex presently expects the facility to be customer-qualified, and in volume production, in the third quarter of 1996. At full capacity, the facility will employ approximately 400 people and manufacture 200,000 flexible interconnect (1) To attach one device to another.
