SmartPath RAP works with documents of any type and creates a central place to control and manage the oftentimes complex multi-document review and approval process. It also offers tight integration with Adobe PDF and Adobe Acrobat technology, leveraging and extending Acrobat functionality to offer a familiar way to collaborate on document reviews. SmartPath RAP enables project managers to accurately track the progress, version history and comments of individual team members.

"SmartPath enables people who rely on Adobe PDF documents to manage the documents with unprecedented power, flexibility and ease," said Amy Bayersdorfer, senior product manager, collaboration and developers, Adobe Systems, Inc (Nasdaq: ADBE).

SmartPath RAP is especially compelling for companies who are active in the marketing supply chain, including designers, publishers, prepress and print production firms. "Seybold Seminars is an ideal venue for introducing SmartPath RAP, because the technology enables companies to increase speed, flexibility and control throughout the typically cumbersome document review process," said Mike Doernberg, president of SmartPath. "Corporate marketing departments and advertising agencies benefit by enhancing vendor communications and document handling capabilities, improving the development, execution and approval of works-in-progress."

Specific features of interest with SmartPath RAP include the use of Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring And Versioning) Enhancements to the HTTP protocol that turn the Web into a document database that enables collaborative creation, editing and searching from remote locations. Standardized by the IETF, WebDAV enables documents to be written via HTTP (HTTP normally only supports reading).) to facilitate online reviews of PDF files for collaboration, digital signatures and document version control, including the ability to consolidate annotations from multiple documents onto a single PDF.
