As an owner, I was confronted with those same confusing symbols while trying to obtain data from my own heating systems. I was angry. Why couldn't a system be simple to understand, rather than forcing me to become a code cracker (1) A person who breaks into a computer system without authorization, whose purpose is to do damage (destroy files, steal credit card numbers, plant viruses, etc.). Because a cracker uses low-level hacker skills to do cracking, the terms "cracker" and "hacker" have become ?

That's how I felt when I designed U.S. Energy Controls' monitoring systems and printouts. I wanted everything to be simple, quick, and easy to understand while helping owners and managers such as myself to save money.

Since 1978, the owners who use my systems are able to be smarter and better managers because they are getting information that they were never able to get before. And, they are able to use it immediately.

Because you can't improve something unless you know what is actually wrong, once my clients see the information provided they can tell right away how poorly or efficiently their systems are operating and know where to make the adjustments to make them run even better.

The printouts obtained from my U.S. Energy Controls monitoring equipment are easy to understand because each day's activity is summarized on one line with plain English Plain English (sometimes known, more broadly, as plain language) is a communication style that focuses on considering the audience's needs when writing. It recommends avoiding unnecessary words and avoiding jargon, technical terms, and long and ambiguous sentences.  headings. They are not long; nor are they confusing lists of numbers, letters and abbreviations. They are plain, simple English Simple English usually refers to a simplified form of English such as:

 words telling you what is happening in your buildings.

Because I'm both an owner and manager, I have an advantage in knowing how to adapt the equipment to get the most out of it. This way, we can save the most fuel while keeping the tenants comfortable and happy.

Would you believe that in one of my buildings, I adjusted the equipment so finely that a problem tenant would receive heat to her apartment just as she would begin to dial my phone number to complain. Because she was getting her heat, the calls went uncompleted.

Indeed, if you are an owner or manager of several properties, such as Rubin Pikus, Michael Schmelzer, or Herbert Donner, the buildings can be listed in order of efficiency. These owners can compare the worst operating buildings at the bottom with the best on the top. They are able to detect any waste, leaks and inefficiency on a building by building basis every day of the year.

Pikus, president of Milbrook Properties, liked the performance of U.S. Energy Controls' Energy Monitor 2000 in one building so much, he purchased the same model for his other buildings.

He likes the way the system performs: how it saves fuel, prevents water waste and alerts him to the early warning signs of boiler/burner trouble.

Above all, Pikus likes the easy to understand printouts listing energy and water usage. By using the information, he is able to create savings by fixing problems before they cost him money.

The information coming from the monitors allows each owner to see that everything is operating properly. It also does other tricks. If the computer finds the stack temperature is too high or too low, it will automatically start dialing those in its personal memory alert list.

It lets you know that somebody should do something, quick; and this is especially important if there is a shut-down and no heat is going to your tenants.

Naturally, each U.S. Energy Control system is tailored to the individual building. And each line of the building's printout (PRINTer OUTput) Same as hard copy.  includes easy to read information on stack temperature, fuel consumption, longest time to make steam pressure, and water consumption.

How can you use this information, you might ask. If there is a very high stack temperature, for instance, it means heat is escaping out the chimney Chimney

 rather than being used to make steam. Then you can make the appropriate adjustments. With the U.S. Energy Controls report, you as the owner or manager, can also instantly compare the stack temperature of all your buildings and uncover inefficiencies.

Fuel consumption is also noted and based on the size of the boiler, you can compare the amount of fuel being drawn from the storage tanks at each of your buildings.

The printouts also show the longest time it took to make steam pressure. That is the point during the period when it took the longest to convert the boiler's water into steam. If the conversion time took too long, it may mean your burner's nozzle An orifice in an inkjet print head through which ink is sprayed onto the paper. Print heads with six thousand or more nozzles are common in today's printers.

Using the U.S. Energy Controls' Energy Monitor 2000, you can detect water leaks by observing the amount of water being used at specific times during the day. If a lot of water is being used at 2 a.m., for instance, when most residents are asleep, you can be sure there is a break in the system.

Printouts can also win court cases as owner Herbert Donner can testify To provide evidence as a witness, subject to an oath or affirmation, in order to establish a particular fact or set of facts.

Court rules require witnesses to testify about the facts they know that are relevant to the determination of the outcome of the case.

Saving energy takes effort. It requires vigilance VIGILANCE. Proper attention in proper time.
