Small world. (L.A. Stories).

It's been a busy couple of weeks for John Palmer John Palmer is the name of several notable individuals, including:
  • John Palmer (Bath architect) (1738-1817), British architect
  • John Palmer (actor) (1744-1798), British actor
  • John Palmer (postal innovator) (1742-1818), inventor of the lightweight mail coach
and Brick Price, partners behind WonderWorks, the Canoga Park-based designer and manufacturer of special effects special effects, in motion pictures, cinematographic techniques that create illusions in the audience's minds as well as the illusions created using these techniques.  and theme park and museum attractions.

Shortly after jetting back from China, where they announced a joint project with a local company to finance, design and build a $200 million motion picture studio and theme park, the partners introduced plans to build a $40 million film studio in Montreal.

Working in China is not without its difficulties, but Palmer said developing the park--which will be called Haikou-Hollywood International Motion Picture Studio and Theme Park--is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The amusement park amusement park, a commercially operated park offering various forms of entertainment, such as arcade games, carousels, roller coasters, and performers, as well as food, drink, and souvenirs.  is on Haikou Island, about an hour by plane from Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov. . It will include a working studio, a film school and a center dedicated to Chinese culture.

Despite the language barrier, Palmer says he found a lot in common with his Chinese partners. "They like to go out and have some fun and have some beers. They really like to drink beer," he said.

And being from Hollywood--Canoga Park, actually--is a constant source of amusement Amusement is the state of experiencing humorous and usually entertaining events or situations, and is associated with enjoyment, happiness, laughter and pleasure. Amusement may also be experienced through the recollection of events which have given rise to amusement in the past.  for the young women who served as interpreters for the American businesseople.

"The first question they want to know," he says, "is do you know Brad Pitt."
