) held its Eighth Annual Awards Luncheon Oct. 12 at the New York New York, state, United States

 working in partnership with large construction firms, private corporations and public agencies to promote opportunities for small, minority and women contractors in construction and related businesses in the New York and New Jersey region, honored five companies and individuals for their outstanding contributions to the industry.

Leading the awards ceremony were well known figures in the construction industry such as luncheon chairman Timothy S. Carey, President & CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Carey Battery Park City Authority is a New York State public benefit corporation whose mission is to plan, create, co-ordinate and maintain a balanced community of commercial, residential, retail, and park space within its designated 92-acre site on the lower west side , and Kurt A. Goddard, Vice President & General Manager-NE, Washington Group international Inc. who also serves as Chair of RASC's Board of Directors. The Hon. H. Carl McCall, New York State Comptroller The New York State Comptroller is the chief fiscal officer of the U.S. state of New York. Timothy S. Carey said, "The rapid pace of construction at Battery Park City makes it imperative that we have access to the skills and talents of all companies in the construction industry, regardless of size. By helping small companies succeed. RASC gives us a great choice of qualified contractors and suppliers, directly contributing to the unprecedented growth we are now seeing at Battery Park City and throughout the Metropolitan region."

Goddard said, "The Regional Alliance does an outstanding job serving both small contractors and construction related consulting firms as they work to be more effective for their clients and more profitable for themselves. We at the Washington Group believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to share in the economic success afforded by this great economy. We are delighted to support the Regional Alliance and I extend my warmest congratulations to the honorees."

Comptroller H. Carl McCall said: "The importance of the Regional Alliance's role lies in the fact that diversity is America's strength. In recognizing that strength and providing greater opportunities for women and minority contractors, the Regional Alliance helps bring more people into the economic mainstream."

The RASC provides financial and technical assistance as well as educational and marketing services designed to advance the growth and profitability of small contractors.
