Small but effective.

At about 5:15 a.m. on December 31, Jodi Qasem of Rogers, Arkansas, heard a door open and thought her husband had returned home, but she soon found out that it wasn't her husband whom she had heard.

A man she didn't know walked into her bedroom. But Qasem wasn't going to be a ready victim for any crime. She grabbed a handy .22-caliber pistol, and she chased the man from the house. He fled out the back door, apparently frightened away. To Qasem's surprise, when she walked out her back door, the man grabbed her, and so she shot him.

Though the man then ran away, she was sure she hit him. She told the Benton County Daily Record, "It was pointed at his belly. I saw the muzzle flash." Qasem ran into the house and called 911. Though the police arrived in less than a minute, they could not locate the criminal.

Qasem had had the gun nearby and loaded because she had seen a Peeping Tom outside her house previously. "She said the peeping tom had the same build as the intruder, but she didn't know if they are the same person." She is hoping the man seeks medical care and is caught.
