Frontman Corey Taylor hosted the ceremony at London's Brewery venue, where his band won Best International Band and Best Live Band.

Taylor said: "It feels really gratifying. If there was ever a band that had to fight against controversy and misconception it was this band, and we're really starting to kind of get to the point where the respect is getting there - and rightly so."

He also paid tribute to the band's fans - known affectionately as the "maggots".

Welsh rockers Bullet For My Valentine won the Best British Act award for the second year in a row, while veterans Metallica took the Best Album gong for Death Magnetic.
