Slat armor or bar armor?You published an excellent article in October 05 issue ("Stryker Units Win Over Skeptics") describing soldiers' impressions of Stryker. I did muse at Maj. Mullen's comment: "I was here when they came up with the slat armor." Just to clarify who "they" really were, I should point out that no major is old enough to know the origin of the slat armor. In the Mobile Riverine Force In the Vietnam War, the Mobile Riverine Force (MRF), or Riverines, were a joint US Army and US Navy force that comprised a substantial part of the Brown Water Navy. The White Oak site of NOL has now been taken over by Food and Drug Administration. , White Oak, Md., was the innovator of the clever and simple scheme, as I recall. He would be proud.
