Now right from their pockets, students and residents can access their medical reference information--revolutionizing the way they utilize information in the learning process.

"The amount of information students or residents have to learn and use to make critical decisions is staggering. Often they have to consult three or four references before they can accumulate the pertinent information to make decisions," said RJ Mathew, vice president of marketing and business development for Skyscape. "Now with Skyscape solutions on their handhelds, students and residents can access all their medical information in a matter of seconds, dramatically improving the learning process and the ability to successfully diagnose and treat patients."

Today more than 20 percent of residency programs in the U.S. require their residents to use PDAs. Many provide their residents with a stipend with which to purchase software and tools for the PDAs. Now students and educators can go to www.skyscape.com to get enhanced versions of leading medical reference books, which they can quickly access on their handhelds to check symptoms, make diagnoses and prescribe drugs. Medical references are available that are suited for general medicine as well as for a variety of specialties.
