Skeptical pastor reinstated in Denmark.


A Danish pastor suspended in June for telling a newspaper that God does not exist has been reinstated.

The Rev. Thorkild Grosboel, a Lutheran minister, reportedly said, "There is no heavenly heav·en·ly  
adj.

 God, there is no eternal life, there is no resurrection." Grosboel was then suspended from his pastoral duties by the bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Evangelical Lutheran Church can refer to many different Lutheran churches in the world. Among them are the following:
  • Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
  • Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada
  • Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chile
. Bishop Lise-Lotte Rebel, however, did not have the authority to defrock de·frock

1. To strip of priestly privileges and functions.

2. To deprive of the right to practice a profession.

3. To deprive of an honorary position.
 Grosboel. Lutheran clergy are employed by the Danish government, and the Ministry of Ecclesiastical ECCLESIASTICAL. Belonging to, or set apart for the church; as, distinguished from civil or secular. Vide Church.  Affairs has the sole power to remove pastors from their duties.

The bishop met with Grosboel a number of times and told the Associated Press Associated Press: see news agency.

 that the pastor "has apologized for his comments that caused doubts about the church's confession of faith." Bishop Rebel also said church officials would closely watch Grosboel's work.

Some 85 percent of Danes belong to the state-supported Lutheran Church, but only 5 percent of the country's 5.3 million people attend services regularly.
