Skanska USA breaks ground on $104m Science Center.

Skanska USA Building Inc. recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the $104 million expansion of the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey, one of the most ambitious science museum initiatives in the country.

The ceremony marked the beginning of work at the center that was originally built 12 years ago.

The existing Liberty Science Center encompasses 196,000 square feet and it is an innovative learning resource for lifelong exploration of nature, humanity and technology.

The expansion will include an 81,000 s/f addition and substantial renovations to 145,000 s/f of the existing space. The plan is to replace nearly every exhibition with new learning experiences in the areas of human health, invention and the environment.
