Site Selection presents 2nd Annual Dorsey Awards.

The top ten corporate real estate service provider organizations, as selected by an editorial board of Site Selection magazine, were honored November 5th in Orlando, Fla., at a special ceremony during the IDRC Florida World Congress. The annual awards were established in memory of Bill Dorsey, former managing director of Fluor Daniel's Global Location Strategies consulting practice for more than 20 years. Award recipients were chosen based on results of surveys that identified special contributions to client service in the corporate real estate profession.

"The Site Selection/William Dorsey Service Provider awards are about recognizing the organizations in this industry that understand the importance of both service innovation and putting client service first," noted Mark Arend, managing editor of Site Selection, who presented the awards.

Award winners and their representatives included (in alphabetical order) BHP Korea Ltd. (Joanna Sung, market research manager), CRESA Partners LLC (Michael Cow, president and CEO), Equis Corporation (Chris Wood, senior vice president of corporate asset management), Ernst & Young Real Estate Advisory Services (Larry P. Ebert, director of real estate services), Jones Lang LaSalle (Stuart Hicks, managing director of global client service for the Americas), Julien J. Studtey, Inc., (Alison Miller, managing director of corporate communications), Meyer Associates, Regus Business Centres (Robert Gaudreau, coach), Patillo Construction Co. (Jerry Silvio, vice president of marketing), and WorkPlaceUSA (Jim Mertz, president of workplace development group and Joe Griffith, workplace financial services, real estate capital group).

Joanna Sung of BHP Korea Ltd., who traveled all the way from Seoul, Korea, to accept the award, said, "It is particularly meaningful that we are the only award recipient from outside the U.S." Part of the Brooke International/ONCOR global network, BHP Korea is one of the largest corporate real estate advisory firms in Korea. "We are connected to a lot of investors, and we employ more than 50 experienced professionals dedicated to service excellence," added Sung.

Also attending the ceremony was Bill Schaperkotter, managing director of Fluor Daniel's global location strategies consulting practice and a protege of Bill Dorsey. "I think these awards signify the standards that Bill worked hard to achieve," said Schaperkotter. "He set very high standards for everyone he worked with, particularly in the areas of client focus, business strategy, common sense and, above all, leadership. These virtues today exemplify these same standards of excellence."

Site Selection editors will present the year 2001 Dorsey Awards next year in Dallas, at the IDRC Fall World Congress.
