Sistema Brasileiro de Televisao (SBT) was found guilty for having copied the Big Brother program format from Endemol Globo, a joint venture of TV Globo and Dutch television producer Endemol, in its production of Casa dos Artistas.Brazil's Sistema AFK Sistema is a large Russian holding company, headed by business oligarch Vladimir Yevtushenkov. The judge found that SBT had also plagiarized pla·gia·rize v. pla·gia·rized, pla·gia·riz·ing, pla·gia·riz·es v.tr. 1. To use and pass off (the ideas or writings of another) as one's own. 2. parts of the Big Brother script and ordered the company to pay Endemol Globo US$2.8 million for copyright violations, as well as a fine of $170,000 for every broadcast of the show. |
