Operating in the 1880-1930 MHz band, PHS uses microcells that cover an area only 100 to 500 meters in diameter, resulting in lower equipment costs but requiring more base  transceiver to major handset manufacturers in Asia from the ML product family recently acquired from Micro Linear Corporation. Sirenza's family of 1.9GHz PHS transceivers integrate transmit, receive, and synthesizer synthesizer

. The PHS transceiver line is designed for ease of use and can be operated with all common PHS baseband ICs on the market today.

"Our PHS transceiver product line performs well and is cost competitive in the expanding PHS market," stated Steve Moore, Sirenza's strategic business unit director for consumer products. "The PHS market continues to grow throughout Asia, and we have received favorable feedback from major handset manufacturers thus far. We look forward to continued success with future releases of follow-on products to our family of PHS transceivers."

"PHS is an important contributor for our new consumer business unit, and we are excited to achieve this volume production milestone," stated Norm Hilgendorf, president of Sirenza's SMDI segment. "The incorporation of the design capabilities underlying this highly integrated transceiver IC product family is important to Sirenza as we look to diversify our product portfolio and our global end markets."
