Beavers change flagship radio stations

CORVALLIS - Oregon State announced Friday a multiyear agreement with KPAM radio as the Beaver Sports Radio Sports radio (or sports talk radio) is a radio format devoted entirely to discussion and broadcasting of sporting events. A popular format with an almost exclusively male demographic in most areas, sports radio is characterized by an often-boisterous on-air style and  Network's new flagship station.

KPAM replaces KEX as the school's flagship starting in the 2007-08 season. The station will broadcast an estimated 350 hours of Oregon State sports programming each year.

``We have a loyal and huge fan base in the Portland area and we don't hide the fact that we consider Portland a Beaver city. This new deal will allow us to better serve Portland by doubling our number of hours on the air,'' athletic director Bob De Carolis said.

KPAM joins KBZY in Salem and KEJO in Albany and Corvallis as part of the Beaver Sports Radio Network, which consists of 26 stations statewide.

Eugene station KKNX-AM (840) will continue to broadcast Beaver games, along with KXQR-AM (660), which will offer Spanish-language broadcasts.
